We all love the players who join, insta-request troops and grunt out, "how u get elder". We have had exactly 100% dropout rate for this type of player, and that's the way it should be.
It does beg the question, though, especially for our loyal players who have been around a while. While I prefer to place members in elder positions as best suits the operation of the clan rather than as a meaningless reward, we can do more to show our appreciation for the players who have been proven contributors over time. As before, it will have to be earned.
I'll leave it up to the Leaders at the feeder clans to decide what structure suits them best, though this may serve as guidance, and concentrate on the path to Elder at CC itself.
CC Elders
CC currently has around 20 elders, which is more than we need. There is no reason to reduce this number, but it's nice to know the clan is stable and running well with no obvious need for more rule enforcers.
The well-worn argument I've had recently with one of our elders, I'll call him Zeke, is that we need co-leaders. At this point in CC it makes no functional difference if every member is an elder, co-leader, or neither. The clan is open and has a high enough entry barrier to prevent most hoppers, and we haven't had to kick a jerk in ages (except for those 2 noobs I invited last week - er, sorry).
So it remains to use the leader labels as some kind of badge of achievement or relative merit. This makes me somewhat uncomfortable. The problem is that all of our elders deserve it, but so do many others. Once everyone is an elder (and why would we have anyone who doesn't deserve it?), then everyone is basically equal, just as they were as members. The same extrapolates to co-leader.
I've mentioned in Clan Messages that I think all of our elders should pay a visit to our feeder clan, CC Academy, to help out, meet new people and let them know there's more to us than a pack of clan-hopping noobs. This will be a requirement for all future elders.
A good way to go about this is something I'll call Touring The Facility (TTF).
Touring The Facility (TTF)
If a member of Canadian Club in good standing is interested in aquiring elder status, they must spend a minimum of a season at each of our feeder clans as elder. This can be part of a trophy dump/farming session, but not necessarily. In fact, it would be great to have some elders remain in Crystal League while TTF. This would aid greatly in recruiting, which is part of the job while on the Tour, as well as educating the lower ranks about how we run and generally donating like crazy. The new guys love getting the high level troops (obv) and will get to meet the people they will clash with when they move up.
After a season at CCA, move to CC Battalion as elder and try to take a bunch of players up with you. Individually they seem reluctant to make the move, so see if several will go at once.
If all goes well you will end up back at CC after a month, achieve Crystal status (if you dropped), and elder will be yours.
Mainting Elder Status in CC
Once you have gained elder status in CC, if you have a period of low activity in which your donations drop below 500 in a season, you will revert to member again. To regain elder, you only need to spend one week at a feeder as elder and return to CC, though a full TTF session would be great!
Co-Leaders
Co-Leaders for the feeder clans can be elected by their respective Leaders. I suggest that these positions be filled only by CC Elders in the future, but leave it up to the Leaders in situ to decide who can best help them run their respective clans.
Feeder Leaders
These elite folks will be the backbone of the CC Organization, and will remain hand-picked by me. They must be CC Elders with all the best qualities of our players. A Feeder Leader who does a good job at starting or running an expansion clan will earn Co-Leader at CC. This requires a minimum commitment of 2 seasons leading an expansion clan. Co-Leaders at CC will be considered to have gained tenure and will keep this position for life, though TTF and Feeder Leader sessions should be considered part of the job description.
All future elders undertaking a TTF and all Feeder Leaders/Co-Leaders must be registered on this forum. This is very important for maintaining lines of communication among the leadership of all the clans.
